Blocked by who? Blocked where? And why?

Shane,

I dunno why some posts, particularly yours at the moment, are being blocked.
The other day I tried this for myself and (re)posted some of your blocked
posts for which you provided Google links and, just like your originals,
they never appeared. I started to try and find the phrase or link that was
causing the block but quit before I had finished on the grounds that I don't
particularly care and it wouldn't have served any purpose since for the most
part those responsible for running the Microsoft servers don't have a clue.

Replacement router. Be will happily exchange your router for another if you
tell them that yours has a fault. You can do this either by raising a
ticket on-line or by ringing help & support. I think it can also be
requested via irc. BTW I understand the charge is £50 for non return of the
router not the £100 you mention (which I also recall seeing at one time on
their site).
But there are literally dozens of
threads about this or closely-related (DNS resolving) issues on the Be
forums (and I doubt many of those users have a 3rd party firewall).

There may well be many threads where users report having problems with the
Be DNS servers (but those problems were resolved almost a year ago) however
I doubt you will find any from anyone who has a clue claiming that their
line drops due to DNS problems. Incidentally on a number of occasions
problems in connecting to certain sites that were claimed by some to
indicate DNS problems were in fact due to routing problems affecting one or
more of the more recently added IP sub-ranges used by Be/O2 being on an
outdated bogon list of some upstream carrier or other. Once the IP range
had been removed from the bogon list those users affected regained their
ability to reach sites via the carrier concerned. At other times there have
been routing problems on Be's core network resulting in users in some areas
not being able to connect to some sites whereas others in the same IP
sub-range but located in a different areas of the UK being able to connect
to the same sites without problem.

Shane, do yourself a service and forget about DNS issues. These have
nothing whatsoever to do with any connection or stability problems your line
might be experiencing. To continue to cite DNS as being a possible cause
for your difficulties is illogical and makes no sense. You mention that
your router is connected via extension wiring - now that is somewhere to
look for possible problems.

Do you want me to dig out some micro-filters and put them in an envelope for
you although if you swap your router you should get two more (Be don't ask
for the microfilters to be returned, just the router). Fortunately I don't
have to use micro-filters as the BT engineer changed my internal wiring when
I first had ADSL installed (in those days it was all engineer installations,
none of today's wires only) and he fitted a filtered master socket behind my
desk.

It appears that unlike your post my reply didn't even make it to Google so
here's another attempt.

Still no go, I've tried posting my reply twice and both times have resulted
in a no show. This really is pathetic and for me at least shows how far
Microsoft and their systems have sunk in recent times.

I'll e-mail you my reply.

The problem seems to be something in the first three lines of your fourth
para given the non appearance of my Test Paragraph 4 and Test Paragraph 4a
however none of the individual lines are being blocked (Test 4a1, 4a2, 4a3).
At one point I wondered if the problem was that The Reg was being blocked.

Microsoft seem to have a problem with the first line of your fourth
paragraph. My test post 4a1 appeared for a few minutes and was then
deleted.

Totally bl**dy crazy given its content, just ten words all of which are used
in normal polite speech and not a critical word amongst them and certainly
no trade name or link. I knew the filters were badly written and those
writing them were clueless but until today I had never realised quite how
bad they had become.
