Greetings 98Guy
Good to see a few still stop by the ME group..
Sorry If I over looked one of your earlier replies..
I reached that age where I forget thing on a minute by minute
progression.. LOL
Yes the anti virus thing does seem to be a moot point, and I don't even
plan to be on the web with that computer.
But, you never know when an update might come in handy for some ole
software.. ;-)
Currently I'm running "Rufus" on a dos USB stick..
Got most of my use-able software on that.
Only problem is a printer interface, "Rufus" tends to only see "Rufus"
I'm trying to relearn DOS and all it's little fun things..
Tks,
again, glad to see folks still on the group..

I'm re-installing ME on an old laptop for some legacy software.
And was wondering if there any current anti-virus programs that will
still work on ME..
I've answered you in the past when you've asked this same question.
And my answer is still the same.
You don't need to be running any sort of anti-virus software for
windows 9x/me. You haven't needed that for at least the past 10 years.
There are no browser exploits that are in use today (and quite frankly
there may never have been any) that can trip up a 9x/me system and
cause it to run exploit code or download secondary viral payload.
And I'd be very surprised if there was even any exploit code sent
along as an email attachment that you'd be fool enough to execute that
would run as intended on a 9x/me system today.
Have I explained myself?
Got any more questions?
And by the way, you'd be better off running win-9x with kernelEx and
with some other mods (like the extended ram hack) than you would be
running that abortion known as Windows Millenium.
