When I start up Win ME, I keep on getting the following
error message:
The PSAPI.DLL file is linked to missing export
NTDLL.DLL:NtAllocateVirtualMemory.
What does this mean, and is there anything I can do to
stop this from coming up?

psapi.dll is not a Win Me file although included as part of MS Office and
with
Win 2K/XP systems.

I believe that you have a variant of the CoolWebSearch parasite so I would
suggest that you download and use the CWShredder tool to remove it if
present
(http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip). Unfortunately
neither AdAware or SpyBot seem to be able as yet to detect the CoolWebSearch
parasite as it keeps changing. For more details of the CoolWebSearch
parasite
see http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html.

You may have problems in accessing merijn's site at the moment as it is
currently under attack, probably by those responsible for CoolWebSearch. If
you can't get to that site then version v1.50.1 (itf not a more recent
copy)
is also available from http://www.zerosrealm.com/downloads/CWShredder.zip

I've been having the exact same problem. I hope someone
can help. Just last Wednesday I talked with someone at 1-
866-727-2338 9 and talked with "Mike" who bumped me up to
the "Escalation Department" because this had something to
do with the .DLL registry. I'm still waiting to hear from
them.

I was asking how to replace the missing export file.
