Nah - Notes was the Lotus competitor to Office, which Smart Suite was the
competitor to Works
I have a client who still uses Organizer 5 on his network, despite being
totally MS otherwise - because it doesn't need a server as such, so saves a
small fortune in infrastructure costs.
AFAIK SmartSuite is doing a good impression of a Dodo, while Notes is still
supported, albeit poorly, by IBM - but I wouldn't bet on my being correct.
Notes was actually a very good beast for the portable office - using
significantly less resources than Office (back in 1995-2000) and with a
lower cost-per-bum. BUT lack of marketing effectively killed it, and it was
replaced by Domino(??) which never took off. (all this is IIRC - with a
large error-margin!!)

Post by MartHi Noel,
Slightly OT - Did Notes replace SmartSuite? I used to use SmartSuite -
and several other Lotus applications in the late 90's - and a couple of
stand-alone apps. But since their decline and introduction of XP & Vista,
and the strong commercial push towards Office, not really touched them for
years. I do remember Improv as being a pretty good database.

Post by Noel PatonUnfortunately, Notes is considerably more than just a mail program - it's
(theoretically, at least) just as capable as the whole Office suite.
I would ask your sysadmin for advice - and they'll probably tell you it
can be done but you're not allowed to do it.

Post by MartDon't know too much about Lotus Notes but there is certainly an "Import"
option in Outlook to transfer email from other utilities e.g. Outlook
Express etc., including an option to Import data from Lotus Organiser.
(Use the File\Import and Export with an 'Import from other program or
file' option). My guess would be that there is a similar facility
offered in Lotus Notes to "Export" data, although you *may* have to
change its file type (e.g. Tab Separated Values) to find a suitable
common format for Outlook.
